Tomorrow, Saturday 16th September, will see the opening round of one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in the northern hemisphere. 12 of the undoubltly most talented players in the world will assemble on the first tee of Scarborough South Golf Club to do battle for the coveted Bridlington Admirals Cup. Record prize money is at stake and of course the Peter Crowhurst Celebration Trophy is also up for grabs.

Last years winner Clive “Hoppy” Dearsley says: “The preparations have been long and hard for this tournament, I myself have stayed in bed for most of the last 2 weeks stepping out occasionally obviously , incontinence is a cruel master you know, but don’t print that will you”.

SeveBet favorite Biffa Amos ,  back to back winner of the Crowbar Trophy, was ebullient: “Who me yes, I am on top form and with luck I should arrive in Yorkshire at some point over the weekend.”

Even recently rebuilt golfing guru Nigel Carby, who is even now undergoing reconstruction surgery on most of his body, will be travelling north for the weekend. Nigel was interviewed but with most of an iron girder, two dental nurses and a pneumatic drill in his mouth it was difficult to understand what he was saying.

Chilly Entwistle, recently returned from his international tour, summed up the event: “Yorkshire, Golf, Beer,Food, Old People’s Home, More Golf, More Beer, Home”.
